David Cooke

David is a Non-Executive Director for Just Psychology. Currently self-employed, he specialises in fundraising and financial management for a number of voluntary organisations. He also works on educational projects around inter-cultural and global development issues. With the community group Southern Voices, for instance, he helped to develop and manage a joint project with the Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry to explore the contribution of colonialism to the rise of Manchester’s cotton industry.

A trained teacher, David taught for 10 years in early post-colonial Zambia and in Botswana. He has acted for 8 years as an advisory teacher for Manchester Local Education Authority (LEA) with particular responsibility for peace education and for citizenship. For 12 years he was the coordinator of  the Development Education Project (DEP), responsible for the project development, fundraising and financial management of a number of initiatives which had national resonance.

He is a tutor with the College for International Citizenship in Birmingham. He enjoys walking long distance footpaths, communal living, cats and cricket.
